Artist Augustė Daškevičiūtė was born in 1992 in Kaunas. She has been actively creating since 2020, participating in painting plein airs and group exhibitions in Lithuania and abroad.
“Painting is the transformation of emotions into colors, movements, gestures, and forms. In abstraction, I sometimes long for something more tangible, recognizable, and grounding. Most often - a puddle or a lake, which reflect the multilayered sensitivities of existence. For me, painting is a constant search. It helps me to see, to understand, to get lost in discoveries, and then to realize once again that I know nothing.” the artist shares.
About this artwork+
This painting by Augustė Daškevičiūtė is vibrant and lively. Bright colors dominate the canvas. There’s a large, abstract eye in the top section. It captures attention immediately. Around it, colors swirl and blend, creating movement. Below, a red area seems to depict something organic, maybe like flowers or lips. Black, bold lines cut through in places, adding contrast. There’s another eye lower down, with a mix of blues and greens. It feels emotional. The painting shows a blend of abstract and expressionist styles. Brushstrokes are visible, adding texture. Daškevičiūtė uses color to convey feeling and growth, fitting for "Maturation." The work feels alive and dynamic.
