Artist Augustė Daškevičiūtė was born in 1992 in Kaunas. She has been actively creating since 2020, participating in painting plein airs and group exhibitions in Lithuania and abroad.

“Painting is the transformation of emotions into colors, movements, gestures, and forms. In abstraction, I sometimes long for something more tangible, recognizable, and grounding. Most often - a puddle or a lake, which reflect the multilayered sensitivities of existence. For me, painting is a constant search. It helps me to see, to understand, to get lost in discoveries, and then to realize once again that I know nothing.” the artist shares.

About this artwork+

The painting features a vividly expressive heart at its center, rendered in a deep black hue with a glossy sheen, providing a stark contrast to the lighter elements surrounding it. The heart is cradled and slightly obscured by broad strokes of white and sky-blue paint, giving the impression of being enclosed or protected by these colors. A striking splash of red, evoking the idea of either blood or vitality, drips from the base of the heart, further intensifying the emotional depth of the piece. Delicate touches of green and bright red spots punctuate the otherwise serene background, suggesting a dynamic interplay between calmness and underlying chaos. The entire composition vibrates with a palpable tension, as if the heart itself is on the verge of either breaking through its confines or being soothingly shielded by them.
