Diana Timonina is an artist whose life has always been closely connected to creativity and art. Surrounded by creative people from an early age, she attended both an art school and an art studio during her formative years. Her enduring appreciation for visual aesthetics ultimately led her to pursue architecture, a field that remains her main profession and continues to inspire her artistic work.

For a time, Diana set aside drawing and painting to focus on other interests, causing her hands-on involvement with art to wane. This hiatus lasted until about five years ago. Amid the routines of motherhood, she rekindled her passion for art. Returning to her paints and brushes marked a turning point for Diana; she found herself drawn to watercolour, enchanted by its delicacy, clarity, and spontaneous nature.

Klaipėda, the city where Diana was born, occupies a special place in her affections and frequently appears as a motif in her art. She discovers inspiration and beauty in the scenes of Klaipėda, its lively port, and the peaceful coastline. The local landscapes often feature in her paintings, revealing her profound attachment to the place she calls home.

Travel is another powerful influence on Diana’s creativity. The encounters and impressions she gathers from journeys across the globe regularly shape her artistic vision. She considers herself fortunate to be able to infuse her art with the inspiration drawn from travel, transforming scenes and memories from distant places into vivid watercolours.

About this artwork+

The painting depicts an old, weathered boat resting on a rocky shore. Its hull, tinged with hues of dusky blues and greens, hints at years of exposure to the elements. Inside, the boat is void of any contents except for a tilted piece of broken plank and a small, starkly upright ladder, which contrasts with the otherwise horizontal lines. The murky water surrounding the boat reflects parts of its battered exterior, blurring the boundaries between the boat and the gentle ripples of the lake. The background is a wash of misty grays and subtle blues, the trees barely visible, evoking a dense, foggy morning where the air and water blend seamlessly. The overall atmosphere is serene yet tinged with a sort of melancholic nostalgia.
