Diana Timonina is an artist whose life has always been closely connected to creativity and art. Surrounded by creative people from an early age, she attended both an art school and an art studio during her formative years. Her enduring appreciation for visual aesthetics ultimately led her to pursue architecture, a field that remains her main profession and continues to inspire her artistic work.

For a time, Diana set aside drawing and painting to focus on other interests, causing her hands-on involvement with art to wane. This hiatus lasted until about five years ago. Amid the routines of motherhood, she rekindled her passion for art. Returning to her paints and brushes marked a turning point for Diana; she found herself drawn to watercolour, enchanted by its delicacy, clarity, and spontaneous nature.

Klaipėda, the city where Diana was born, occupies a special place in her affections and frequently appears as a motif in her art. She discovers inspiration and beauty in the scenes of Klaipėda, its lively port, and the peaceful coastline. The local landscapes often feature in her paintings, revealing her profound attachment to the place she calls home.

Travel is another powerful influence on Diana’s creativity. The encounters and impressions she gathers from journeys across the globe regularly shape her artistic vision. She considers herself fortunate to be able to infuse her art with the inspiration drawn from travel, transforming scenes and memories from distant places into vivid watercolours.

About this artwork+

The painting titled "Traditional Cottages of Nida" by Diana Timonina shows charming wooden houses. The main house has a cozy, sloped roof with skylights. Bright blue window frames add a pop of color. Lush greenery surrounds the cottages, creating a peaceful atmosphere. A tall tree stands to the right, its leaves softly brushing against the sky. A person walks along the sidewalk next to a picket fence, adding life to the scene. Timonina uses soft, flowing brushstrokes. The watercolor technique gives the painting a gentle, airy feel. The colors blend smoothly, enhancing the serene setting. It captures the essence of a quiet, traditional village.
