Diana Timonina is an artist whose life has always been closely connected to creativity and art. Surrounded by creative people from an early age, she attended both an art school and an art studio during her formative years. Her enduring appreciation for visual aesthetics ultimately led her to pursue architecture, a field that remains her main profession and continues to inspire her artistic work.

For a time, Diana set aside drawing and painting to focus on other interests, causing her hands-on involvement with art to wane. This hiatus lasted until about five years ago. Amid the routines of motherhood, she rekindled her passion for art. Returning to her paints and brushes marked a turning point for Diana; she found herself drawn to watercolour, enchanted by its delicacy, clarity, and spontaneous nature.

Klaipėda, the city where Diana was born, occupies a special place in her affections and frequently appears as a motif in her art. She discovers inspiration and beauty in the scenes of Klaipėda, its lively port, and the peaceful coastline. The local landscapes often feature in her paintings, revealing her profound attachment to the place she calls home.

Travel is another powerful influence on Diana’s creativity. The encounters and impressions she gathers from journeys across the globe regularly shape her artistic vision. She considers herself fortunate to be able to infuse her art with the inspiration drawn from travel, transforming scenes and memories from distant places into vivid watercolours.

About this artwork+

The painting captures the imposing majesty of towering mountain peaks, their rugged forms rising steeply against a pale, subtly gradated sky. The mountains, rendered in shades of gray, white, and hints of earthy browns, convey a sense of both solidity and ethereal lightness, reflecting perhaps the changing light of early morning or late afternoon. Their surfaces are textured, suggesting craggy rock faces and snow patches, while mist or clouds seem to cling to the crevices and valleys between the peaks. The artist’s brushwork imbues the scene with a dynamic, almost fluid energy, emphasizing the natural drama and immense scale of the high-altitude landscape.
