Diana Timonina is an artist whose life has always been closely connected to creativity and art. Surrounded by creative people from an early age, she attended both an art school and an art studio during her formative years. Her enduring appreciation for visual aesthetics ultimately led her to pursue architecture, a field that remains her main profession and continues to inspire her artistic work.

For a time, Diana set aside drawing and painting to focus on other interests, causing her hands-on involvement with art to wane. This hiatus lasted until about five years ago. Amid the routines of motherhood, she rekindled her passion for art. Returning to her paints and brushes marked a turning point for Diana; she found herself drawn to watercolour, enchanted by its delicacy, clarity, and spontaneous nature.

Klaipėda, the city where Diana was born, occupies a special place in her affections and frequently appears as a motif in her art. She discovers inspiration and beauty in the scenes of Klaipėda, its lively port, and the peaceful coastline. The local landscapes often feature in her paintings, revealing her profound attachment to the place she calls home.

Travel is another powerful influence on Diana’s creativity. The encounters and impressions she gathers from journeys across the globe regularly shape her artistic vision. She considers herself fortunate to be able to infuse her art with the inspiration drawn from travel, transforming scenes and memories from distant places into vivid watercolours.

About this artwork+

This painting by Diana Timonina is vibrant and full of life. It shows a vast field of tulips stretching wide under a dynamic sky. The flowers are not detailed individually. Instead, the tulip field is depicted through bold, sweeping rows of yellow and green. These lines pull your eye toward the horizon where a traditional windmill stands. The sky above is dramatic. Swirling clouds in shades of gray dominate, suggesting a storm might be on its way. The contrast between the peaceful, brightly colored fields and the brooding sky creates a powerful visual impact. Diana Timonina has used a loose, impressionistic style here. This approach captures the essence and atmosphere of the scene more than its precise details. The painting feels fresh and spontaneous, full of movement and life. It's a beautiful interpretation of nature’s vividness and the skies’ unpredictability.
