Laura Aitmanė was born in 1987. She followed her passion for architecture, graduating in 2010 from the Kaunas Faculty of Arts at the Vilnius Academy of Arts, and again in 2012 from the Kaunas University of Technology, specializing in architecture on both occasions.
Nature is Laura Aitmanė’s primary source of inspiration. Her artistic pursuits are closely connected to landscapes, flowers, and animals. She delights in bird watching and takes particular interest in Lithuania’s wild plants, which often appear as motifs in her creations.
Aitmanė’s unique style features expressive, at times slightly rough, brushstrokes. This method enables her to portray nature in a way that avoids both clichés and excessive sentimentality, infusing her paintings with authenticity and vitality.
Since 2020, Laura Aitmanė has been exhibiting her works in solo shows. Through these exhibitions, she continues to investigate and present her fascination with the patterns and beauty found in nature.

In the painting, a night scene depicts a serene pond speckled with blooming yellow Nuphar lilies, whose vibrant petals contrast starkly against the dark water. The lilies float on rounded green pads, reflecting gently on the water’s surface. Above the pond, a dense line of slender, tall trees stretches across the background, their forms simplified and stylized. A striking yellow horizon separates the water from the trees, suggesting a light source that further illuminates the lilies below. From the dark, moody sky and the trees, vertical streaks of paint—in hues of green, yellow, and purple—stream down over the entire scene, as if rain is pouring over the landscape, merging the reflection of the flora with the ripples of the pond. The overall effect is atmospheric, blending the natural elements with a sense of abstracted, dynamic movement.
