Since childhood, drawing has captivated me; even my math and other school notebooks were always covered with various sketches—much to the dismay of my teachers, who rarely praised me for it. After completing my art studies, I became a professional artist, but after a few years, life led me away from the heart of the art world.

During this lengthy period away from my artistic path, I constantly reassured myself that I would one day return. Now, that time has come, and I find myself once again immersed in creativity and the world of art.

The artist has held several solo exhibitions and takes part in group exhibitions both in Lithuania and abroad. Through these events, the public has had opportunities to experience and appreciate a distinctive artistic vision developed over many years.

Works by Egidijus Dapšas have also found their way to private art collectors both in Lithuania and internationally. This growing interest among collectors speaks to the recognition and appreciation received at home and beyond.

About this artwork+

The painting features a layered texture with a predominantly brown and white color palette, transitioning from dark at the top to lighter tones toward the bottom. Visible brush strokes and dripped paint create a sense of vertical movement. The upper section shows a dense mix of brown and rust-like colors, suggesting oxidation or decay. This seamlessly flows into a central band where white begins to dominate, interspersed with thin, horizontal lines of brown and grey that give the impression of a textured surface being eroded or weathered over time. Towards the bottom, the canvas is dominated by lighter hues, primarily white, with some areas where the paint appears thicker, creating a rugged, tactile effect. Portions of the canvas near the bottom are sparsely coated, allowing the raw texture of the material to show through, which adds to the overall raw and organic aesthetic.
