Since childhood, drawing has captivated me; even my math and other school notebooks were always covered with various sketches—much to the dismay of my teachers, who rarely praised me for it. After completing my art studies, I became a professional artist, but after a few years, life led me away from the heart of the art world.

During this lengthy period away from my artistic path, I constantly reassured myself that I would one day return. Now, that time has come, and I find myself once again immersed in creativity and the world of art.

The artist has held several solo exhibitions and takes part in group exhibitions both in Lithuania and abroad. Through these events, the public has had opportunities to experience and appreciate a distinctive artistic vision developed over many years.

Works by Egidijus Dapšas have also found their way to private art collectors both in Lithuania and internationally. This growing interest among collectors speaks to the recognition and appreciation received at home and beyond.

About this artwork+

The painting primarily uses a muted palette of whites and greys, punctuated by clusters of darker tones and hints of blue. Its composition primarily features an assortment of blocks and rectangular shapes, varying in opacity and layered over each other to create a sense of depth. These forms seem to float within a hazy, mist-like milieu, conveying an ambiance of ambiguity and stillness. The use of dripping and smeared paint techniques intensifies the artwork's abstract nature, providing a feeling of motion despite the overall static and serene quality. This blend of elements creates a reflective, almost melancholic atmosphere, perhaps alluding to the theme of waiting as the title suggests—an enduring pause or a contemplative silence.
