Since childhood, drawing has captivated me; even my math and other school notebooks were always covered with various sketches—much to the dismay of my teachers, who rarely praised me for it. After completing my art studies, I became a professional artist, but after a few years, life led me away from the heart of the art world.

During this lengthy period away from my artistic path, I constantly reassured myself that I would one day return. Now, that time has come, and I find myself once again immersed in creativity and the world of art.

The artist has held several solo exhibitions and takes part in group exhibitions both in Lithuania and abroad. Through these events, the public has had opportunities to experience and appreciate a distinctive artistic vision developed over many years.

Works by Egidijus Dapšas have also found their way to private art collectors both in Lithuania and internationally. This growing interest among collectors speaks to the recognition and appreciation received at home and beyond.

About this artwork+

The painting "Touch The Light" by Egidijus Dapšas displays a textured surface dominated by subdued tones of gray, beige, white, and subtle hints of blue. The colors blend softly into each other, creating a peaceful, worn appearance akin to an old wall weathered over time. There are layers upon layers of paint, each brush stroke suggesting a depth of motion and emotion beneath. Horizontal striations and gentle gradations in color give the impression of a vast, open landscape or the quiet swell of a serene ocean at dawn. The interplay of light and shadow, along with the scratchy, raw textures, suggest an abstract, contemplative exploration of light penetrating through obscured clarity. The painting as a whole evokes a sense of calmness and introspection, as if inviting the viewer to reach out and touch the elusive light it gently harbors.
