Since childhood, drawing has captivated me; even my math and other school notebooks were always covered with various sketches—much to the dismay of my teachers, who rarely praised me for it. After completing my art studies, I became a professional artist, but after a few years, life led me away from the heart of the art world.

During this lengthy period away from my artistic path, I constantly reassured myself that I would one day return. Now, that time has come, and I find myself once again immersed in creativity and the world of art.

The artist has held several solo exhibitions and takes part in group exhibitions both in Lithuania and abroad. Through these events, the public has had opportunities to experience and appreciate a distinctive artistic vision developed over many years.

Works by Egidijus Dapšas have also found their way to private art collectors both in Lithuania and internationally. This growing interest among collectors speaks to the recognition and appreciation received at home and beyond.

About this artwork+

The painting showcases a rich texture of abstract vertical and horizontal strokes, creating an overall impression of both chaos and order. The color palette is subdued, dominated by grays, whites, and muted blues and browns, suggesting a weathered or aged effect. These colors bleed into one another in layers, while spots and speckles perhaps indicative of corrosion or decay are visible throughout. The work exudes a certain rawness, evoking the feeling of being in a vast, open space where elements of time and nature converge. The complexity of brushwork and the variation in opacity suggest depth and provoke contemplation about the infinite interpretations and emotions it can stir.
