Since childhood, drawing has captivated me; even my math and other school notebooks were always covered with various sketches—much to the dismay of my teachers, who rarely praised me for it. After completing my art studies, I became a professional artist, but after a few years, life led me away from the heart of the art world.

During this lengthy period away from my artistic path, I constantly reassured myself that I would one day return. Now, that time has come, and I find myself once again immersed in creativity and the world of art.

The artist has held several solo exhibitions and takes part in group exhibitions both in Lithuania and abroad. Through these events, the public has had opportunities to experience and appreciate a distinctive artistic vision developed over many years.

Works by Egidijus Dapšas have also found their way to private art collectors both in Lithuania and internationally. This growing interest among collectors speaks to the recognition and appreciation received at home and beyond.

About this artwork+

The painting presents as a textured field of what seems like intermingling silver and grey brush strokes, generating an almost metallic sheen. The surface is dynamic, covered with dense, scribbled, entangled lines that suggest a chaotic yet harmonious mesh. These scratches and marks vary in intensity and depth, creating layers of visual depth and an impression of constant movement. Shadows and lighter areas blend across this textured canvas, suggesting an underlying fluidity or a form of hidden motion beneath the apparent stillness of the silver-grey expanse. Amidst this complex web of lines, there is an ephemeral glow, a subtle hint of light that appears to pulsate gently from the center, giving a feeling of depth and perhaps, infinite space.
