Since childhood, drawing has captivated me; even my math and other school notebooks were always covered with various sketches—much to the dismay of my teachers, who rarely praised me for it. After completing my art studies, I became a professional artist, but after a few years, life led me away from the heart of the art world.

During this lengthy period away from my artistic path, I constantly reassured myself that I would one day return. Now, that time has come, and I find myself once again immersed in creativity and the world of art.

The artist has held several solo exhibitions and takes part in group exhibitions both in Lithuania and abroad. Through these events, the public has had opportunities to experience and appreciate a distinctive artistic vision developed over many years.

Works by Egidijus Dapšas have also found their way to private art collectors both in Lithuania and internationally. This growing interest among collectors speaks to the recognition and appreciation received at home and beyond.

About this artwork+

The painting is dominated by a tumultuous sea of black and grey hues, each stroke of the brush creating intense, swirling textures that evoke a sense of movement and depth. The entire canvas is a raw display of emotional intensity, with patches of white and lighter greys breaking through the darkness like crests of waves or glints of light reflecting off a tumultuous ocean at night. The heavy application of paint adds a tangible texture, which almost seems to protrude from the surface, giving the artwork a rugged and visceral feel. The varying shades of grey and the chaotic, almost violent brushwork contribute to an atmosphere of stormy dynamism. This abstract portrayal captures an essence of natural force and emotional upheaval, pulling the viewer into its deep, mesmerizing layers.
