Artwork in the room
Since childhood, drawing has captivated me; even my math and other school notebooks were always covered with various sketches—much to the dismay of my teachers, who rarely praised me for it. After completing my art studies, I became a professional artist, but after a few years, life led me away from the heart of the art world.
During this lengthy period away from my artistic path, I constantly reassured myself that I would one day return. Now, that time has come, and I find myself once again immersed in creativity and the world of art.
The artist has held several solo exhibitions and takes part in group exhibitions both in Lithuania and abroad. Through these events, the public has had opportunities to experience and appreciate a distinctive artistic vision developed over many years.
Works by Egidijus Dapšas have also found their way to private art collectors both in Lithuania and internationally. This growing interest among collectors speaks to the recognition and appreciation received at home and beyond.
About this artwork+
The painting "Secrets" by Egidijus Dapšas displays a textured surface with layers of cream, brown, and gold tones. Its depth comes from the play of light and shadow. Fine lines and markings suggest natural forms, perhaps branches or water reflections. Dapšas's style here is abstract with an emphasis on material depth and earthy tones. Texture plays a crucial role. The canvas looks weathered, almost like an ancient wall bearing marks of time. This is a piece where each viewer might see something different, reflecting the painting's title, "Secrets." Its ambiguity and mystique draw the observer in. Dapšas masterfully creates a visual experience rich in texture and understated complexity.
