Artwork in the room
Since childhood, drawing has captivated me; even my math and other school notebooks were always covered with various sketches—much to the dismay of my teachers, who rarely praised me for it. After completing my art studies, I became a professional artist, but after a few years, life led me away from the heart of the art world.
During this lengthy period away from my artistic path, I constantly reassured myself that I would one day return. Now, that time has come, and I find myself once again immersed in creativity and the world of art.
The artist has held several solo exhibitions and takes part in group exhibitions both in Lithuania and abroad. Through these events, the public has had opportunities to experience and appreciate a distinctive artistic vision developed over many years.
Works by Egidijus Dapšas have also found their way to private art collectors both in Lithuania and internationally. This growing interest among collectors speaks to the recognition and appreciation received at home and beyond.
About this artwork+
The painting depicts an abstract composition primarily in hues of gray, black, and white, with subtle touches of brown. It features a complex, layered texture that includes vertical and horizontal strokes, creating an impression of depth and movement. The top section of the painting is dominated by dark, grid-like patterns that fade into lighter, more open areas towards the bottom. The interplay of dense and sparse elements along with the varied application of paint suggests an underlying tension, perhaps indicative of the emotional or thematic layers the artist wishes to convey. The overall effect is both industrial and organic, merging structure with randomness.
