Since childhood, drawing has captivated me; even my math and other school notebooks were always covered with various sketches—much to the dismay of my teachers, who rarely praised me for it. After completing my art studies, I became a professional artist, but after a few years, life led me away from the heart of the art world.

During this lengthy period away from my artistic path, I constantly reassured myself that I would one day return. Now, that time has come, and I find myself once again immersed in creativity and the world of art.

The artist has held several solo exhibitions and takes part in group exhibitions both in Lithuania and abroad. Through these events, the public has had opportunities to experience and appreciate a distinctive artistic vision developed over many years.

Works by Egidijus Dapšas have also found their way to private art collectors both in Lithuania and internationally. This growing interest among collectors speaks to the recognition and appreciation received at home and beyond.

About this artwork+

The painting presents a textured surface with a palette dominated by shades of gray, interspersed with hints of brown and subtle blue. The artwork is abstract in nature, featuring an intricate play of vertical drips and horizontal smears that suggest a wall weathered by time and elements. Through these layers, one can discern a variety of depth and intensity, creating a somber and reflective mood. Visual echoes that might resemble faded characters or elusive figures appear softened and integrated within the sweeping gestures of the medium, giving the impression of a hidden narrative caught in a moment of stillness. The overall effect is both haunting and serene, inviting contemplation.
