Since childhood, drawing has captivated me; even my math and other school notebooks were always covered with various sketches—much to the dismay of my teachers, who rarely praised me for it. After completing my art studies, I became a professional artist, but after a few years, life led me away from the heart of the art world.

During this lengthy period away from my artistic path, I constantly reassured myself that I would one day return. Now, that time has come, and I find myself once again immersed in creativity and the world of art.

The artist has held several solo exhibitions and takes part in group exhibitions both in Lithuania and abroad. Through these events, the public has had opportunities to experience and appreciate a distinctive artistic vision developed over many years.

Works by Egidijus Dapšas have also found their way to private art collectors both in Lithuania and internationally. This growing interest among collectors speaks to the recognition and appreciation received at home and beyond.

About this artwork+

The painting titled "Part Of The Whole" by Egidijus Dapšas is a mesmerizing abstract composition featuring a blend of neutral tones and delicate layers. In the artwork, varying shades of beige, gray, white, and pale blue obfuscate and intersect in horizontal and vertical strokes, suggesting both depth and motion. The texture appears gritty and raw, while some parts of the canvas are left bare or lightly touched by paint, showing the texture underneath. Near the central area, a few sharp lines and smudges of darker hues including black provide contrast, drawing the eye momentarily before it moves again over the soft, almost mist-like quality of the surrounding colors. This work evokes a feeling of erosion or weathering, as if the elements depicted are both enduring yet impermanent components of a larger whole.
