Since childhood, drawing has captivated me; even my math and other school notebooks were always covered with various sketches—much to the dismay of my teachers, who rarely praised me for it. After completing my art studies, I became a professional artist, but after a few years, life led me away from the heart of the art world.

During this lengthy period away from my artistic path, I constantly reassured myself that I would one day return. Now, that time has come, and I find myself once again immersed in creativity and the world of art.

The artist has held several solo exhibitions and takes part in group exhibitions both in Lithuania and abroad. Through these events, the public has had opportunities to experience and appreciate a distinctive artistic vision developed over many years.

Works by Egidijus Dapšas have also found their way to private art collectors both in Lithuania and internationally. This growing interest among collectors speaks to the recognition and appreciation received at home and beyond.

About this artwork+

The painting presents a serene, almost haunting abstraction with a palette dominated by shades of gray and subtle blues. Vertical and horizontal strokes blend together, creating a texture that suggests the quiet passage of time or the soft fall of rain. In places, deeper charcoal and black tonalities emerge behind the lighter surface, hinting at shadows or reflections, perhaps of an urban scene at night. Near the painting's center, a concentration of more defined lines could be construed as distant lights, their blur mimicking the effect of a cityscape seen through a misted or rain-slicked window. The overall effect is one of quiet isolation and the introspective nature of a solitary, reflective night.
