Since childhood, drawing has captivated me; even my math and other school notebooks were always covered with various sketches—much to the dismay of my teachers, who rarely praised me for it. After completing my art studies, I became a professional artist, but after a few years, life led me away from the heart of the art world.

During this lengthy period away from my artistic path, I constantly reassured myself that I would one day return. Now, that time has come, and I find myself once again immersed in creativity and the world of art.

The artist has held several solo exhibitions and takes part in group exhibitions both in Lithuania and abroad. Through these events, the public has had opportunities to experience and appreciate a distinctive artistic vision developed over many years.

Works by Egidijus Dapšas have also found their way to private art collectors both in Lithuania and internationally. This growing interest among collectors speaks to the recognition and appreciation received at home and beyond.

About this artwork+

The painting "Night Light" by Egidijus Dapšas features a canvas dominated by muted grays and stark black bands that stretch horizontally across the field. Its broad horizontal brushstrokes and layered application of paint create a sensation of depth and texture. The center of the work is marked by a dense, dark block of black that appears almost as a void, absorbing light and drawing the viewer’s gaze inward. This central darkness is framed by lighter gray areas that show hints of underlying white and soft blue, suggesting a subtle interplay of shadow and illumination reminiscent of soft moonlight. The overall effect is both restful and mysterious, evoking the quiet calm of a cloudy night.
