Since childhood, drawing has captivated me; even my math and other school notebooks were always covered with various sketches—much to the dismay of my teachers, who rarely praised me for it. After completing my art studies, I became a professional artist, but after a few years, life led me away from the heart of the art world.

During this lengthy period away from my artistic path, I constantly reassured myself that I would one day return. Now, that time has come, and I find myself once again immersed in creativity and the world of art.

The artist has held several solo exhibitions and takes part in group exhibitions both in Lithuania and abroad. Through these events, the public has had opportunities to experience and appreciate a distinctive artistic vision developed over many years.

Works by Egidijus Dapšas have also found their way to private art collectors both in Lithuania and internationally. This growing interest among collectors speaks to the recognition and appreciation received at home and beyond.

About this artwork+

The abstract painting titled "Midsummer" by Egidijus Dapšas offers a composition marked by its layered visual depth and textural complexity. The artwork's primary use of muted browns, whites, and grays contributes to a serene, almost melancholic atmosphere. Horizontal bands and faint vertical strokes suggest a vague, landscape-like form, possibly reflecting a horizon or subtle natural elements. These elements, intertwined with the diffuse, soft edges, evoke a sense of tranquility and the effacement of distinct shapes. Subtle, darker linear elements disrupt the calm expanse, adding a hint of movement or tension. The overall effect is one of somber reflection or faded memory, typical of a dreamlike midsummer scene.
