Since childhood, drawing has captivated me; even my math and other school notebooks were always covered with various sketches—much to the dismay of my teachers, who rarely praised me for it. After completing my art studies, I became a professional artist, but after a few years, life led me away from the heart of the art world.

During this lengthy period away from my artistic path, I constantly reassured myself that I would one day return. Now, that time has come, and I find myself once again immersed in creativity and the world of art.

The artist has held several solo exhibitions and takes part in group exhibitions both in Lithuania and abroad. Through these events, the public has had opportunities to experience and appreciate a distinctive artistic vision developed over many years.

Works by Egidijus Dapšas have also found their way to private art collectors both in Lithuania and internationally. This growing interest among collectors speaks to the recognition and appreciation received at home and beyond.

About this artwork+

The painting features a composition divided into different textural blocks, creating a sense of abstract minimalism. On the left, there is a large, faded white section resembling a plastered wall with patches of gray, suggesting wear or aging. This area feels ethereal and diffuse, possibly lit from an unseen source. Next to it, occupying the right side, is a column of vertical stripes in shades of beige and gray. The stripes have an organic, uneven quality, indicating either corrosion or natural variation. The patterns add a rhythmical visual element, contrasting with the plainness of the left section. At the bottom of the artwork, a bold, solid black stripe grounds the composition, giving it a sturdy base and emphasizing the vertical dynamics above it. The overall effect is atmospheric and contemplative, hinting at themes of decay, time, or memory.
