Since childhood, drawing has captivated me; even my math and other school notebooks were always covered with various sketches—much to the dismay of my teachers, who rarely praised me for it. After completing my art studies, I became a professional artist, but after a few years, life led me away from the heart of the art world.

During this lengthy period away from my artistic path, I constantly reassured myself that I would one day return. Now, that time has come, and I find myself once again immersed in creativity and the world of art.

The artist has held several solo exhibitions and takes part in group exhibitions both in Lithuania and abroad. Through these events, the public has had opportunities to experience and appreciate a distinctive artistic vision developed over many years.

Works by Egidijus Dapšas have also found their way to private art collectors both in Lithuania and internationally. This growing interest among collectors speaks to the recognition and appreciation received at home and beyond.

About this artwork+

The painting presents a textured tableau of muted grays and whites, interspersed with deep blacks. An abstract, almost ethereal quality pervades the canvas, with the distribution of color suggesting forms that are not clearly defined, giving the impression of shadows or reflections. There's a vertical element that stretches upwards resembling a tree or perhaps a figure, contributing to the ambiguity and depth of the composition. Streaks and blotches create a dynamic movement, making the work seem as though it is in a state of flux—elements could be emerging from or dissolving into the foggy background. The overall effect is contemplative, suggesting an exploration of internal landscapes or emotions.
