Since childhood, drawing has captivated me; even my math and other school notebooks were always covered with various sketches—much to the dismay of my teachers, who rarely praised me for it. After completing my art studies, I became a professional artist, but after a few years, life led me away from the heart of the art world.

During this lengthy period away from my artistic path, I constantly reassured myself that I would one day return. Now, that time has come, and I find myself once again immersed in creativity and the world of art.

The artist has held several solo exhibitions and takes part in group exhibitions both in Lithuania and abroad. Through these events, the public has had opportunities to experience and appreciate a distinctive artistic vision developed over many years.

Works by Egidijus Dapšas have also found their way to private art collectors both in Lithuania and internationally. This growing interest among collectors speaks to the recognition and appreciation received at home and beyond.

About this artwork+

In the painting, the canvas is dominated by strokes and layers of muted hues, primarily shades of gray with white and subtle undertones of black. These colors cascade vertically, creating a visual texture reminiscent of weathered surfaces or the facade of an ancient, timeworn wall. Some sections appear more opaque, suggesting depth, while others mimic the translucency of varied textures or perhaps reflections in water. The middle section features a conspicuous vertical black smudge standing in stark contrast to its surrounding palette, drawing the eye as a focal point. This abstract configuration evokes a sense of mystery and emotional complexity, inviting interpretation and emotional interaction from the viewer.
