Since childhood, drawing has captivated me; even my math and other school notebooks were always covered with various sketches—much to the dismay of my teachers, who rarely praised me for it. After completing my art studies, I became a professional artist, but after a few years, life led me away from the heart of the art world.

During this lengthy period away from my artistic path, I constantly reassured myself that I would one day return. Now, that time has come, and I find myself once again immersed in creativity and the world of art.

The artist has held several solo exhibitions and takes part in group exhibitions both in Lithuania and abroad. Through these events, the public has had opportunities to experience and appreciate a distinctive artistic vision developed over many years.

Works by Egidijus Dapšas have also found their way to private art collectors both in Lithuania and internationally. This growing interest among collectors speaks to the recognition and appreciation received at home and beyond.

About this artwork+

This painting by Egidijus Dapšas, titled "Drought Effect," shows a subtle and haunting landscape. It features layers of muted colors, mainly grays and browns. The upper part of the canvas is darker, suggesting a horizon line perhaps, while the bottom fades into lighter tones. The texture is striking. It looks cracked and weathered, much like dry earth. This visual texturing adds a sense of depth to the work. The title 'Drought Effect' aligns perfectly with this imagery, evoking the arid, parched feel of a land deprived of water. Dapšas uses an abstract style. It allows viewers to feel the impact of drought rather than see a direct depiction. His approach is thoughtful and evocative, using color and texture to communicate environmental themes. This painting pulls the viewer into a contemplative state, encouraging thoughts about nature and its fragile balance.
