Since childhood, drawing has captivated me; even my math and other school notebooks were always covered with various sketches—much to the dismay of my teachers, who rarely praised me for it. After completing my art studies, I became a professional artist, but after a few years, life led me away from the heart of the art world.

During this lengthy period away from my artistic path, I constantly reassured myself that I would one day return. Now, that time has come, and I find myself once again immersed in creativity and the world of art.

The artist has held several solo exhibitions and takes part in group exhibitions both in Lithuania and abroad. Through these events, the public has had opportunities to experience and appreciate a distinctive artistic vision developed over many years.

Works by Egidijus Dapšas have also found their way to private art collectors both in Lithuania and internationally. This growing interest among collectors speaks to the recognition and appreciation received at home and beyond.

About this artwork+

The painting presents an abstract composition characterized by a muted palette of grays, whites, and subtle browns. The colors blend and overlap, creating a smooth yet texturally complex surface. The image is softly layered, with different tones of gray forming a misty, ambiguous space that seems both dense and expansive. Streaks and smears, possibly from a brush or a palette knife, add a dynamic element to the subdued background. The overall effect is one of serenity tinged with mystery, evoking a sense of depth and introspection through its minimalist approach. The lack of clear forms or figures invites the viewer to lose themselves in contemplation, suggesting the theme of distraction.
