Since childhood, drawing has captivated me; even my math and other school notebooks were always covered with various sketches—much to the dismay of my teachers, who rarely praised me for it. After completing my art studies, I became a professional artist, but after a few years, life led me away from the heart of the art world.

During this lengthy period away from my artistic path, I constantly reassured myself that I would one day return. Now, that time has come, and I find myself once again immersed in creativity and the world of art.

The artist has held several solo exhibitions and takes part in group exhibitions both in Lithuania and abroad. Through these events, the public has had opportunities to experience and appreciate a distinctive artistic vision developed over many years.

Works by Egidijus Dapšas have also found their way to private art collectors both in Lithuania and internationally. This growing interest among collectors speaks to the recognition and appreciation received at home and beyond.

About this artwork+

The painting titled "Centered" by Egidijus Dapšas features an abstract composition dominated by horizontal bands of varying shades and textures. The central area is lighter, almost a misty white that fades into gradients of gray. This central lighter space seems to hover ethereally over deeper shades of dark gray and subtle hints of black that form the upper and lower bounds of the canvas. Speckles and sporadic marks of white paint splatter across the layers, suggesting a dynamic, yet controlled chaos within the structured bands. The overall effect is serene and contemplative, inviting a viewer to get lost in the depths and subtleties of the color transitions.
