Since childhood, drawing has captivated me; even my math and other school notebooks were always covered with various sketches—much to the dismay of my teachers, who rarely praised me for it. After completing my art studies, I became a professional artist, but after a few years, life led me away from the heart of the art world.

During this lengthy period away from my artistic path, I constantly reassured myself that I would one day return. Now, that time has come, and I find myself once again immersed in creativity and the world of art.

The artist has held several solo exhibitions and takes part in group exhibitions both in Lithuania and abroad. Through these events, the public has had opportunities to experience and appreciate a distinctive artistic vision developed over many years.

Works by Egidijus Dapšas have also found their way to private art collectors both in Lithuania and internationally. This growing interest among collectors speaks to the recognition and appreciation received at home and beyond.

About this artwork+

The painting displays an intricate array of muted browns, blacks, and subtle hints of gold, creating a richly textured abstract surface. The atmospheric layers of colors blend into each other, producing a depth that almost seems to shift under the viewer's gaze. Horizontal streaks lightly etched across the surface suggest motion or the passing of time, while the occasional brighter slashes of white and gold break through the darkness, offering a contrast that pulls the eye. In its entirety, the artwork evokes a sense of ancient walls weathered by time, or perhaps a cosmic scene of distant nebulae glimpsed through the veil of space. The mood is both somber and luxurious, contemplative and deeply serene.
