Since childhood, drawing has captivated me; even my math and other school notebooks were always covered with various sketches—much to the dismay of my teachers, who rarely praised me for it. After completing my art studies, I became a professional artist, but after a few years, life led me away from the heart of the art world.

During this lengthy period away from my artistic path, I constantly reassured myself that I would one day return. Now, that time has come, and I find myself once again immersed in creativity and the world of art.

The artist has held several solo exhibitions and takes part in group exhibitions both in Lithuania and abroad. Through these events, the public has had opportunities to experience and appreciate a distinctive artistic vision developed over many years.

Works by Egidijus Dapšas have also found their way to private art collectors both in Lithuania and internationally. This growing interest among collectors speaks to the recognition and appreciation received at home and beyond.

About this artwork+

This painting titled "Adaptation" by Egidijus Dapšas presents a textured landscape of blended grays, whites, and shades of off-white interrupted by worn patches and rugged textures that suggest the impression of a weathered wall. The artwork carries a predominantly vertical arrangement of elements, featuring streaks and layers of paint that create both depth and the sense of dilapidation or aging. Towards the left, there are distinct vertical lines, somewhat resembling a barcode or music notes, which are etched into the semi-opaque layers of the painting, adding a structured element amid the chaotic spread of textures. This blend of randomness and order evokes a mood of nostalgia and transformation, echoing the theme of adaptation.
