Since childhood, drawing has captivated me; even my math and other school notebooks were always covered with various sketches—much to the dismay of my teachers, who rarely praised me for it. After completing my art studies, I became a professional artist, but after a few years, life led me away from the heart of the art world.

During this lengthy period away from my artistic path, I constantly reassured myself that I would one day return. Now, that time has come, and I find myself once again immersed in creativity and the world of art.

The artist has held several solo exhibitions and takes part in group exhibitions both in Lithuania and abroad. Through these events, the public has had opportunities to experience and appreciate a distinctive artistic vision developed over many years.

Works by Egidijus Dapšas have also found their way to private art collectors both in Lithuania and internationally. This growing interest among collectors speaks to the recognition and appreciation received at home and beyond.

About this artwork+

The painting "A Renegade" by Egidijus Dapšas presents a moody and abstract landscape, dominated by a subdued palette of browns, whites, and grays. The composition is layered and textured, featuring a large dark brown blotch that starkly contrasts against the lighter, misty background. Below this dark mass, there seems to be an indistinct horizon line, suggesting a distant landscape or seascape, obscured by fog or mist. The textures vary across the canvas, with some areas appearing smooth and washed, while others are thick and tactile, possibly created by scraping or layering paint. This mixture of elements conveys a sense of decay, weathering, and perhaps the passage of time, all contributing to a contemplative and somewhat somber atmosphere.
