Natalija Ranceva is an artist whose artistic journey began in her childhood, marked by an innate affinity for creative expression. While she initially devoted herself to the exact sciences, her trajectory shifted significantly when her daughter entered art school—an event that rekindled Natalija’s own enthusiasm for art and inspired her to pursue it with genuine commitment.

In 2018, Natalija graduated from the adults programme at Vilnius Justinas Vienožinskis Art School, an experience that profoundly influenced her methods of artistic creation. This formal training equipped her with essential techniques and skills, enabling her to delve deeper into her creative instincts and cultivate her distinctive style.

Natalija’s approach to art is defined by ongoing self-discovery. She delights in exploring diverse techniques and has not confined herself to any particular medium or style, believing that her artistic decisions fluctuate according to her emotional state. This adaptability enables her to embrace new possibilities and to express multiple dimensions of her inner life.

Taking inspiration from the world around her, Natalija maintains that authentic art conveys personal experience. Through her artistic work, she aims to share her uncertainties, revelations, moments of awe, and steadfast convictions, inviting viewers to engage with the richness of her emotional and creative experience.

About this artwork+

The painting features two figures dressed in elaborate, historical costumes. On the left, a character wears a large, ornate bluish wig adorned with greenery, above what appears to be a regal makeup and outfit with heavy blue accents and a dramatic white neckline. The expression is intense and slightly menacing with pronounced dark eyes and red lips. Next to them stands another figure, with a more subdued expression, dressed in a traditional brown and red outfit reminiscent of 18th-century European attire. This figure holds a piece of paper and wears a white periwig styled in a manner typical of that era, presenting a contrastingly reserved complement to the flamboyance of the companion. The setting suggests a dimly lit environment, adding a sense of mystery and drama to the interaction or the moment being depicted.
