Residing in Kaunas, she is an active participant in the Lithuanian Artists Association. Her international portfolio features her participation in an artist symposium held in India in November 2018, as well as a group exhibition in Athens, Greece, in 2019.
The creative path of this painter is shaped by her guiding principle: Art only begins where Imitation ends. (Oscar Wilde) This belief is evident in her willingness to transcend the confines of conventional painting, choosing to emphasize individuality and creative expression above the simple replication of the visible world.
Kristina Čivilytė’s paintings stand out for their bold and dynamic color schemes. She frequently uses both vivid and misty hues, often weaving in the deep, warm tones of autumn to establish striking visual contrasts. The abstract elements present in her work encourage audiences to discover their own meanings, transforming each piece into a personal journey across memories, impressions, and envisioned possibilities.
At the heart of Kristina's artistry lies a spirit of experimentation. She adeptly blends conventional and mixed media methods, at times introducing specialized techniques to amplify the emotional depth of her paintings. Her creative process is intuitive, with artworks taking shape organically through memory, exploration, and a profound sense of spiritual and imaginative inquiry. This approach has resulted in a collection marked by a distinctive energy, a quality highlighted by art critic Agnė Bartišiūtė-Janušienė.
About this artwork+
In the painting, there is a vibrant depiction of several trees positioned close to each other, appearing to sway or dance. The brushstrokes are expressive and textured, primarily using a palette of dark and light blues, browns, greens, and whites that blend into each other. The scene conveys a vivid, somewhat abstract representation of nature, reflecting movement through the dynamic application of paint. The background suggests a bright, lively sky and verdant meadow that enhances the sense of energy and life within the trees themselves, which are the central visual elements of the artwork. Bright spots of blue and white near the base add a touch of luminosity, possibly indicating water or reflections that contribute to the overall impressionistic style.
