Gedeminas Barčauskas, although an architect by training, is most passionate about painting. He views art as a form of meditation—a way to express emotions and attain inner tranquility. For Barčauskas, painting goes beyond the confines of set rules or the necessity to conform to any particular style.
He points out that his creativity is driven largely by intuition and an innate understanding of what feels and appears right to him. This method grants him considerable artistic freedom, resulting in works that are both highly personal and rich with emotion. Rather than aligning his paintings with any conventional art movements, Barčauskas chooses to let each creation develop on its own terms.
Over the course of his artistic pursuits, Barčauskas has taken part in numerous group shows and art contests. These events have enabled him to introduce his artwork to wider audiences and engage with fellow artists. Such experiences have played a vital role in both his artistic and personal growth.
The year 2021 marked a pivotal point for Gedeminas Barčauskas as he debuted his first solo exhibition. This occasion represented a significant step in his career, affording him the chance to display a body of work and communicate his distinctive artistic vision to the public.
About this artwork+
The painting depicts an intense, close-up portrait of an owl. The owl's feathers are rendered with dynamic, sweeping brushstrokes primarily in shades of dark blue, giving it a vibrant yet somewhat ominous appearance. Stark, bold streaks of gray and black cascade down from the owl’s neck, blending into an abstract, dripped paint effect at the bottom of the canvas, possibly suggesting movement or the disintegration of form. The owl's piercing eyes draw immediate attention, glowing in a vivid yellow with small, sharply defined pupils that enhance its penetrating gaze. The overall expression of the owl, accentuated by the positioning of its sharp, pointed beak and the furrowed brow, conveys a mood of aggression or defensiveness, encapsulating the essence of the title "Angry Bird."
