Artwork in the room
Benas Liandzbergis 2022 finished Master's studies at the Vilnius Academy of Fine Arts, Dept. of Embedded Art (formerly Fresco/Mosaic).
"Creativity is a constant transformation with which I change as well, so the works are very diverse. In the works, I use irony, sarcasm, and paradoxes as my main tools, although one should not get attached to these words. I ask questions about myself, society, our collective choices and how they affect us in the long run. I also record personal experiences that happened or are happening, looking for fragments of everyday life."
About this artwork+
This painting, "Telephones" by Benas Liandzbergis, features three modern smartphones. They stand upright, almost like a city skyline. Pink, cloud-like shapes float around them. The background is a soft blue, giving it a dreamy feel. The phones are detailed with realistic textures. One is turned to show its cameras, contrasting with the abstract pink blobs. The painting blends realism with surreal elements. Liandzbergis uses sharp lines and bold colors. The piece seems to comment on technology’s presence in life. It’s both intriguing and thought-provoking.
