Vytautas Koženiauskas Norberto, born in 1958, is a renowned artist and a fourth-generation resident of Kaunas, Lithuania. Deeply connected to his hometown, he is also blessed with a wonderful family whose continued support and inspiration mean a great deal to him. Since 2010, Vytautas has been a dedicated member of the Lithuanian Union of Craftsmen and Artists, reflecting both his skill and his substantial contribution to the local art scene.

Vytautas’s fondness for drawing and painting emerged early in his youth, dating back to his school years when he would create art even during mathematics classes. This lifelong passion has consistently guided him, profoundly shaping both his artistic approach and identity.

Once his children became independent, Vytautas was able to dedicate more time to his artistic interests and began painting on canvas. This phase marked the start of a more committed and intentional involvement with his craft, giving him the opportunity to further refine his style and skills.

Vytautas is particularly recognized for inventing a distinctive painting technique, developed through his experiments with diverse materials such as paint, earth, clay, herbs, rust, paper, and wood. Even today, this innovative method remains his favorite. For Vytautas, the greatest honor lies in knowing that people choose to adorn their homes with his work, which continues to inspire his creativity.

About this artwork+

The painting features a surreal, dreamlike landscape dominated by a large, misty mountain that looms in the background. Soft light breaks through the haze, illuminating parts of the mountain and casting a mystical glow over the scene. In the foreground, a river or stream meanders gracefully through the valley, its edges detailed with frothy white highlights that suggest the flow of water. Across the river, a quaint stone bridge connects the two banks, adding a touch of rustic charm. Near the bridge, a small, solitary house with a visible white turret stands quietly, tucked away among sparse, shadowy trees that flank the scene. The sky above is subdued, with hints of blue peering through grey clouds, mirroring the tranquil yet mysterious atmosphere of the landscape. The use of light and shadow, along with a palette of earthy tones interspersed with blues and whites, creates a sense of calm isolation and otherworldly beauty.
