Ovinova possesses a comprehensive education in the arts. She completed art school with honours in 1987, then furthered her studies at the Samara Art College, graduating with distinction in 1991. Svetlana continued her artistic training at the St. Petersburg Classical Academy of Arts, where she graduated with the highest honours in 2000.

Her paintings, encompassing oil, tempera, and watercolour techniques, are part of private collections in countries such as Lithuania, the Netherlands, the USA, Sweden, England, Russia, Belarus, Norway, Germany, and Turkey. She is recognized for her unique thematic cycles, rare techniques in watercolour using specially selected old paper, and the “out of focus” method in oil painting. Over the course of her career, Svetlana has held 29 solo exhibitions—including 21 in Lithuania—and has been featured in many international group shows. She is a member of the LATGA Association.

About this artwork+

In the painting, a woman with an elegant posture is represented. Her hair is styled in a sophisticated updo, adorned with what appears to be feathers or ribbons adding a dynamic touch of red and pink hues. She holds a decorative mask close to her face. This mask, intricate and ornamental, features pinkish tones with embellishments that suggest a delicate craftwork of beads or jewels. The woman's attire is luxurious, evocative of historical or theatrical clothing, predominantly in soft blue tones with hints of pink, which may suggest light and shadows dancing over its fabric. Her jewelry, comprising of a necklace and earrings, sparkles with hints of blue and violet, echoing the opulence of her overall appearance. The backdrop is a rich, enigmatic maroon, providing a stark, warm contrast to her cooler-toned dress and accessories, which casts her in an aura of mystery and grace. The artist’s use of watercolors lends a softness to the depiction, allowing the colors to blend gently into one another, enhancing the dreamlike quality of the scene.
