Sniegė is an artist whose background encompasses extensive training in both Lithuanian and French art. She attended the Kaunas School of Art and the Vilnius Academy of Arts, particularly the Kaunas Institute of Art, where her studies centered on textiles and glass. After relocating to the south of France, she enriched her education by undertaking a four-year course at the Bordeaux School of Art. Even as a student, Sniegė began designing clothing and creating avant-garde fashion collections, which served as the groundwork for her later artistic style.
The core of Sniegė’s artistry is characterized by its elegance and femininity. Her commitment to exploring femininity is evident, as she frequently conveys this theme through costume and fashion in her work. Having specialized in textiles, Sniegė is consistently drawn to the history of costume design, which plays a pivotal role in her creative process. Her pieces are marked by an attentive focus on detail—ornamentation, patterns, and decorative elements all feature prominently—while she remains intent on maintaining an overarching sense of lightness and transparency.
More recently, Sniegė’s creations highlight the motif of female friendship. She portrays groups of "mademoiselles and madams" together, sometimes in threes or as part of larger, family-like gatherings. The stories within these works are implied instead of directly presented; viewers are invited to interpret the dynamics, exchanges, and secrets shared through expressions, body language, and clothing.
Sniegė’s art makes an excellent choice for home décor, as well as a distinctive gift, especially for women such as friends, mothers, sisters, or goddaughters. Her artistry has been acknowledged through several successful solo exhibitions in both France and Lithuania, and she is actively involved in various art groups. Sniegė is also a member of the French Artists' Union, demonstrating her integration and recognition within the French artistic sphere.
About this artwork+
The painting depicts a tall, slender woman poised elegantly against a rich, red background. Her physical form is elongated, almost ethereal, stretching the length of the canvas. Her face is pale and composed, with delicate features framed by white hair that is adorned with a vibrant pink headpiece. Her eyes are large, giving her a look of profound depth and wisdom. She is clad in a stunning, fitted gown that flows with intricate designs and colors. The top of the dress near her chest is adorned with a fiery orange pattern, resembling a flower or sunburst, which transitions into a series of elaborate floral details in yellow and green tones. Near the bottom, the flowers become larger and more defined against a creamy background. Jewelry in the form of layered necklaces with varying bead sizes adds a touch of opulence to her appearance. Within the heart of her outfit, positioned around her midsection, is a dark, centrally-placed flower, set against a soft glow that draws attention to this focal point on her dress. This element, like a core or inner compass, seems symbolic, perhaps indicating her heart or essence. The look in her expressive eyes combined with her poised stance suggests a narrative of grace, dignity, and mysterious allure.
