Rolanas Stankūnas (born 1990) is a modern Lithuanian painter and graphic artist who has been a member of the Union of Lithuanian Artists since 2018. Based in Vilnius, he contributes to the vibrant and ever-changing creative landscape of the capital. Stankūnas distinguishes himself by investigating the themes of perception, aesthetics, and disruption in his exhibitions, offering a unique viewpoint within contemporary Lithuanian art.
Stankūnas received his education at the Vilnius Academy of Arts, Kaunas Faculty, where he obtained a bachelor’s degree in Applied Graphics (2009–2013) and a master’s degree in Painting (2014–2017). The skillful technique and conceptual richness apparent in his work stem from this solid academic background. His studies have given him a firm foundation for his continued artistic growth and active participation in exhibitions.
In recent years, the artist has organized numerous solo exhibitions. Among the most significant are "Light and Shadows" at the Elektrėnai Cultural Center, "Aesthetics of Disruption" at Antakalnis Gallery in Vilnius, and the ongoing "Shadow Play" series, which has appeared at venues such as Druskininkai City Museum Gallery and Ramybės Gallery in Palanga. His solo and group shows represent a wide spectrum of Lithuanian cities as well as international locations, a testament to his expanding acclaim.
Stankūnas's work has earned recognition in the form of individual scholarships from the Lithuanian Culture Council (2018, 2020) and honors like the Young Artist Prize at the "Best 2012 Work of the Year" exhibition hosted by Kaunas Art Gallery. His pieces have appeared in prominent auctions, including the Vilnius Auction, and have been featured in various articles that spotlight the contemporary Lithuanian art scene. Through relentless exhibition activity and creative exploration, Rolanas Stankūnas has established himself as a significant presence among Lithuania's emerging generation of artists.
