Regina Daugnorienė is a committed watercolor artist, recognized for her skillful command of this expressive medium. Her artistic path has involved a significant period of experimentation, during which she tried numerous color pairings and techniques to develop her distinctive method. Since choosing watercolor as her main form of expression nearly ten years ago, Regina has dedicated herself fully to mastering its unpredictable and whimsical qualities.

Favoring a style defined by gentle brushstrokes and translucent washes, Regina often lets the interaction between color and paper direct the flow of her work. She draws inspiration from watercolor’s innate unpredictability, following the movement of her brush while aiming to leave her personal signature in each piece. Although she typically uses pure watercolor layered delicately, she also takes pleasure in exploring a range of techniques—such as wet-on-wet, dry brush, and free pouring.

Her works frequently depict themes from nature, including landscapes, flowers, and architectural elements, demonstrating her appreciation for both the natural world and human-built spaces. Regina skillfully combines expressive, impromptu approaches with the development of soft, hazy edges, particularly enjoying the blend of these contrasting styles. She values watercolor’s ability to convey both liveliness and calmness within a single artwork.

Regina Daugnorienė is affiliated with the Lithuanian Folk Artists Union and has recently presented her fifth solo exhibition. Actively involved in plein-air events and international workshops, she continually broadens her creative perspective. Based in Vilnius, her studio—situated near the Franciscan church—is a vibrant, music-filled environment that fuels her inspiration. Regina welcomes you to visit her online gallery at paintings.lt, where her watercolors offer serenity and beauty that may enrich your home.

About this artwork+

The painting depicts a cluster of delicate hydrangea flowers portrayed in soft, ethereal watercolor strokes. Shades of blue, purple, and slight touches of pink blend seamlessly into one another, evoking the gentle transition of colors within the petals. Positioned at the center, below the floral arrangement, is a glass vase that catches drips of color trickling down from the blooms, giving the impression that the vase has captured a piece of the fleeting sky. The background is minimally detailed, primarily washed in a soft beige, allowing the focus to remain on the lush, vibrant hydrangeas and the translucent vase. Light speckles and splashes of green add a lively, organic feel around the flowers, suggesting the freshness of lush foliage in a summer garden. Overall, the artwork conveys a serene, almost transient quality, as if the essence of summer is dissolving into the softness of watercolor.
