Rasa Diemedžio, an artist with a degree in ceramics from the Art Institute, began her career grounded in formal training yet soon undertook a prolonged personal quest to discover an artistic path that truly resonated with her inner world. This exploration eventually brought her to Eastern philosophy, which awakened a deep appreciation for the traditions and aesthetics of Eastern art—an interest rooted in her school days.

Her artistic expression draws considerable inspiration from centuries-old Eastern art forms. Central to Rasa's work is a focus on the spiritual essence, which she regards as a guiding principle. By skillfully working with colors and shapes derived from nature, she strives to construct compositions that evoke harmony and radiate a positive energy. Though her chosen subjects may seem modest or unremarkable at first sight, they serve to investigate and uncover the distinct nuances and beauty found in the natural environment.

Besides her visual creations, Rasa frequently weaves short poetic verses known as haiku into her process. These haiku function as brief poetic glimpses, highlighting the importance of the present moment. By incorporating them, she connects varying Eastern artistic traditions and enriches her work, merging poetry and visual imagery into integrated and harmonious pieces.

Meditation is a fundamental element of Rasa Diemedžio’s creative routine; she meditates prior to painting and views the act of painting itself as a meditative practice. Through this mindful engagement, she endeavors to imbue her works with tranquility and harmony. Her wish is that those who encounter her art will experience the same sense of calm and balanced energy that she feels during creation.

About this artwork+

The painting titled "Dream Collage" by Rasa Diemedžio features a gentle blend of pastel colors creating a soft, ethereal landscape. At the center, a large, dreamy blue bubble-like form draws the eye, adorned with a delicate chandelier-like figure within it, which drops down into an intricate array of what appears to be crystalline forms or frost. Surrounding this are several smaller orbs and patches, festooned with subtle hues, and see-through bubbles floating gracefully. In the lower region, a vibrant pink lotus flower nestles among a wash of lilac and sky-blue whispers, alongside what seems to be an ornamental scrollwork motif stretching across part of the canvas. The overall effect is one of floating, serene elements, interwoven with a sense of mystic calm and otherworldly beauty, evocative of dreams and the surreal.
