About this artwork+
In this painting titled "Status 2" by Neringa Žukauskaitė, a figure sits directly beneath a large showerhead. Water streams down, enveloping the figure in cascades of blue. The background is minimal, stark white, which makes the blues seem more vivid. The figure is depicted in a simple, somewhat abstract style. Its pose is relaxed, with legs stretched out along a branch-like structure that supports it from beneath. This gives a peaceful, almost serene effect. Žukauskaitė uses what looks like a printmaking technique. The colors are flat and the lines are clear, suggesting a focus on the essentials. There is a quiet, almost meditative quality to her work. The figure and the flowing water seem to exist in a moment of tranquility. The use of minimal colors and the straightforward composition add to the calming feel of the painting.
