From an early age, Nadia Petra drew inspiration from the world of art. She remembers visiting a neighbor’s home during the Soviet era, where the neighbor’s daughter possessed an extraordinary collection of nearly 100 colored pencils imported from abroad—an exceptional rarity at that time. This first encounter with such vibrant colors made a lasting impression on Nadia and sparked a lifelong love for bright hues that continues to define her work today.
While Nadia recognizes her unique background and formal training, she is convinced that life itself has provided her with the most valuable lessons. The years she spent in Italy were filled with fascinating experiences that greatly expanded her perspective. Her artistic path includes both solo and group exhibitions, as well as participation in competitions, but Nadia prefers her paintings to act as her true voice, inviting viewers to engage with her art directly.
Most recently, Nadia Petra unveiled her new interior painting series titled "Home decor." This body of work does not revolve around complex philosophical themes; instead, it aims to reflect the simple, pure beauty of nature as she sees and experiences it. Her goal is to inspire memories of gardens and fields, encouraging viewers to mentally return to the peacefulness of the natural world.
Nadia’s art stands out for its use of vibrant color schemes and an authentic bond with nature. Through her paintings, she aspires to bring a sense of the outdoors into people's daily lives, providing moments for reflection and nostalgia. Her works invite viewers to pause and savor the straightforward beauty of the natural environment surrounding them.
About this artwork+
The painting captures the lush, vibrant beauty of a peony in bloom. It presents an explosion of pinks and reds, with delicate touches of white that infuse the petals with light and depth. Thick strokes of paint evoke the texture of the petals; some are soft and curled, while others are more dynamic and whorled, seemingly fluttering in a gentle breeze. The central part of the flower is a deep, inviting burgundy, and it's studded with bright yellow stamens that contrast vividly against the pink hues. The entire composition conveys a sense of fullness and the transient, blooming life of the flower. The background is subtle and understated, a soft grey that enhances the peony’s rich colors, making it the focal point of the artwork.
