Since 2012, Maksym Golovko has been living and working as an artist in Kaunas. Over this time, both the city and its atmosphere have become his home and creative setting, leaving a mark on his artistic pursuits.

Golovko’s art is distinguished by the way he conveys intricate concepts through visual means. He is drawn to subjects such as interpersonal connections, communication, solitude, and the broader human approach to the world. These motifs appear throughout his work, offering insight into the emotional and social undercurrents of contemporary life.

One significant element in Golovko’s art is his examination of how humans relate to nature. His work often brings attention to humanity’s separation from, distance toward, or even misuse of the natural environment. He sees people as destined to be a part of nature, yet they frequently end up as mere observers or even as oppressors, prompting viewers to reconsider humanity’s role within the natural world.

Golovko usually adopts a visually appealing illustrative technique, which works in tandem with the quiet irony woven into his pieces. Notably, rather than depicting people, he frequently opts for animals as central figures, using their representation to offer indirect critiques of human conduct and societal concerns.

About this artwork+

This painting shows a bright pink pig sitting at a small table. The pig appears relaxed, leaning back slightly in a blue chair. A beam of white light illuminates the scene from the upper right. On the table, there is a cup and saucer. A red liquid, perhaps symbolic, spills from the cup onto the white tablecloth. The background features simple, geometric patterns in shades of purple and blue, creating a tranquil yet surreal atmosphere. Maksym Golovko uses a clean, illustrative style in this work. His use of vibrant, flat colors and sharp outlines gives the painting a modern look. The scene blends elements of realism and fantasy, adding a quirky charm to the composition. This piece is thought-provoking, leaving viewers to ponder the story and symbolism behind the serene yet unusual setting.
