LinaVai is an artist whose creative path is closely connected to her own life experiences and dreams. She recalls that her earliest inspiration began as a dream that appeared as distant as the moon. Eventually, she discovered she was already standing on it—a poetic metaphor for finding satisfaction in the least expected places. Through her paintings, LinaVai seeks to stir emotions, striving to make each piece feel alive and significant, deeply resonating with those who encounter her work.

Having been born and raised in Vilnius, LinaVai earned her master’s degree in design from the Vilnius Academy of Arts (VAA) in 2005. Her professional journey spans a diverse array of creative fields, such as furniture design, interior design, graphic design, and the creation of imaginative cardboard toys. Collaboration and creativity have consistently shaped her work, and she voices appreciation for the mentors and supportive individuals who have nurtured her artistic and professional development.

For LinaVai, painting occupies a vital role, offering her a source of inner peace and stability. She acknowledges her teachers for inspiring her with bravery, openness, and a sense of freedom, which allowed her to embrace painting as a distinctive form of expression. Through colors and brushstrokes, LinaVai shares her deepest thoughts and emotions, crystallizing her belief that "This Is This."

LinaVai’s paintings are notable for their bold, expressive use of color. She primarily creates on large canvases, confidently selecting intense, lively hues while employing a painting approach marked by dynamism and energy. No matter if she uses thick impasto or gentle, transparent layers, her passionate engagement and vibrant spirit are always evident, reflecting her dedication to conveying joy through her art.

About this artwork+

The painting depicts a vivid red boot standing upright, laced tightly and extending past what would typically be the wearer's knee, transforming into a sort of corset-like structure at the top. This unconventional boot is set against a backdrop of vertical bluish-green strokes mimicking either rain or a weathered surface. Entwined with the top of the boot are green vines with small, delicate leaves, possibly suggesting life growing unexpectedly in a surreal context. To the right side of the boot hangs a small, detailed human skull, adding a macabre or symbolic element to the scene. The overall atmosphere is enigmatic and slightly melancholic, contrasting the vibrancy of the red with the somber tones of the background and the eerie presence of the skull.
