LinaVai is an artist whose creative path is closely connected to her own life experiences and dreams. She recalls that her earliest inspiration began as a dream that appeared as distant as the moon. Eventually, she discovered she was already standing on it—a poetic metaphor for finding satisfaction in the least expected places. Through her paintings, LinaVai seeks to stir emotions, striving to make each piece feel alive and significant, deeply resonating with those who encounter her work.

Having been born and raised in Vilnius, LinaVai earned her master’s degree in design from the Vilnius Academy of Arts (VAA) in 2005. Her professional journey spans a diverse array of creative fields, such as furniture design, interior design, graphic design, and the creation of imaginative cardboard toys. Collaboration and creativity have consistently shaped her work, and she voices appreciation for the mentors and supportive individuals who have nurtured her artistic and professional development.

For LinaVai, painting occupies a vital role, offering her a source of inner peace and stability. She acknowledges her teachers for inspiring her with bravery, openness, and a sense of freedom, which allowed her to embrace painting as a distinctive form of expression. Through colors and brushstrokes, LinaVai shares her deepest thoughts and emotions, crystallizing her belief that "This Is This."

LinaVai’s paintings are notable for their bold, expressive use of color. She primarily creates on large canvases, confidently selecting intense, lively hues while employing a painting approach marked by dynamism and energy. No matter if she uses thick impasto or gentle, transparent layers, her passionate engagement and vibrant spirit are always evident, reflecting her dedication to conveying joy through her art.

About this artwork+

This painting by LinaVai features a lone shoe perched atop a geometrically shaped pedestal, surrounded by shadowy and angular structures. The style has a modern feel with its abstract forms and muted colors. Soft blues, grays, and a touch of red are used to create a quiet, contemplative atmosphere. The brushwork appears loose and expressive, lending an emotional depth to the seemingly simple subject. LinaVai clearly plays with light and dark contrasts to draw attention to the old shoe, symbolizing perhaps memories or discarded stories found at a flea market. The title "An Old Tale" suggests that each object has its own history and narrative. This painting is both intriguing and atmospheric.
