Artwork in the room
"K. Česonytė’s paintings are variations on Expressionist painting: characterized by a trembling touch, energetic brushstrokes, and expressive paint textures with which she often seems to 'sculpt' figures, objects, and landscape elements. In terms of genre, the scope of her work is quite traditional. Landscapes predominate, though the artist has also painted a series of still lifes, numerous urban scenes, and the occasional stylized portrait. Yet, other aspects of K. Česonytė’s painting align her less with classical modernist art and more with the imagery of the contemporary, media-saturated world. 'My tools are the computer and virtual space,' she says. The visual imagery in her paintings derives not from reality itself, but from a virtual—or secondary—reality. For this creative artist, however, that serves merely as a springboard or a starting signal that liberates both imagination and hand. In her work, this secondary reality—or a chance motif—and the artist’s imagination most often intertwine inseparably. Images suggested by modern media are transformed into authentic visions, deeply and sensitively experienced by the painter herself."

About this artwork+
This painting is vibrant and bursting with intricate details. The background is dark, contrasting sharply with the multitude of vibrant colors used for the patterns and figures. Dominating the scene are stylized, elongated snakes, their bodies looping around the canvas in sinuous curves. The snakes are decorated with complex patterns and beautiful colors including blues, greens, and hints of yellow. The overall composition is busy yet harmonious, filled with smaller motifs like flowers, stars, and abstract shapes that look like they might represent leaves or clouds. These elements are rendered in a style that feels both whimsical and meticulously planned. Kristina Česonytė, the artist, employs a folk-art aesthetic combined with a modern twist. Her use of gold accents adds a touch of luxury and magic, making the elements seem to pop out of the dark background. The style is playful and suggests a deep appreciation for nature and mythology, themes often explored in her work. This painting, with its rich symbolism and lively decoration, exemplifies her unique artistic voice.
