For graphic artist Inesa Gervė, the vivid realm of painting holds greater appeal than black and white. She gravitates toward lively color schemes, using them to convey emotions and narratives through rich tones and energetic arrangements.

Since childhood, Inesa has been fascinated by fairy tales and illustrations—an influence that still shapes her artistic outlook. She frequently experiences a sense of being caught between the purity of youth and the realities of adulthood, merging these dualities within her artwork.

Her creations reflect snippets of dreamlike recollections, silent emotions, and thoughts. She delves into a feeling of connection with the natural world, associating herself with leaves, grass, and moonlight, and highlighting the notion that humans form only a minor element within nature's vast expanse.

Inesa’s approach to creation is subtly rebellious, challenging concepts like vanity, superficiality, and consumerism. She considers art to be a remedy for the routine of daily existence, maintaining that its truest significance can be understood solely by those few who deeply identify with her perspective.

About this artwork+

This painting depicts a complex and striking composition involving three animals connected by a red thread. On the left side, a large, detailed wolf's face holds a gaze that appears solemn or contemplative. Right next to it, integrated into the image, a small monkey clings to the green, leafy branches that also sprawl over the canvas. Dominating the center and merging into these elements is the head of a young boy, whose eyes and expression mirror the intensity and plaintiveness of the wolf's. The boy is painted with a subtle blueness, suggesting perhaps coldness or an otherworldly quality. The red thread not only stretches to connect these beings but also weaves through a human heart that floats nearby, further implying a deep, intrinsic connection among them. Dark speckles and a yellow backdrop contrast sharply, maybe hinting at a starry night or dusk setting. The foliage, rich in green hues, adds a vibrant touch of life amidst the other more subdued colors. The text “A+B=AB(RH+)” ambiguously floats by the monkey, perhaps signifying genetic or mystical themes related to blood and inheritance.
