For graphic artist Inesa Gervė, the vivid realm of painting holds greater appeal than black and white. She gravitates toward lively color schemes, using them to convey emotions and narratives through rich tones and energetic arrangements.

Since childhood, Inesa has been fascinated by fairy tales and illustrations—an influence that still shapes her artistic outlook. She frequently experiences a sense of being caught between the purity of youth and the realities of adulthood, merging these dualities within her artwork.

Her creations reflect snippets of dreamlike recollections, silent emotions, and thoughts. She delves into a feeling of connection with the natural world, associating herself with leaves, grass, and moonlight, and highlighting the notion that humans form only a minor element within nature's vast expanse.

Inesa’s approach to creation is subtly rebellious, challenging concepts like vanity, superficiality, and consumerism. She considers art to be a remedy for the routine of daily existence, maintaining that its truest significance can be understood solely by those few who deeply identify with her perspective.

About this artwork+

The painting captures an abstract rendition of a city in the summertime, bathed in a luminous palette of yellows and golds, interspersed with touches of white, pink, and soft browns. The composition is largely dominated by geometric blocks and shapes that suggest the form of buildings, windows, and possibly the bustling energy of urban life. Patches of vibrant orange and speckles of dark brown imply the dynamic interplay of sunlight and shadows commonly experienced in a city during summer. The left section features what appears to be a series of smaller shapes, perhaps suggesting distant buildings or architectural features typical of a cityscape. The overall effect is warm, inviting, and buzzing with an abstract representation of city life under the radiant summer sun.
