All artworks

Indrė Beinartė is an artist who primarily expresses herself through monochrome ink painting. Using this medium, she captures the essence of objects by emphasizing depth and simplicity, while embracing emptiness and open space. Through the elimination of superfluous details, her works evoke a quiet intensity and a contemplative energy.

Her artistic philosophy is deeply influenced by Japanese aesthetics, as seen in her affinity for minimalist arrangements, nuanced subtlety, and the expressive nature of calligraphic brushwork. Indrė frequently works with sumi ink on handmade papers such as xuan and washi, later mounting these paintings on linen or canvas, and sometimes accentuating them with natural wood. The imagery in her pieces merges East Asian and Lithuanian landscapes, featuring cranes, herons, and softly rolling, grassy hills that speak to her personal ties to her native land.

Indrė Beinartė’s artistic vision is shaped by a spirit of exploration and keen observation of the natural world. She places great value on presence and mindfulness within her creative process, aiming to reflect the balance between darkness and light as well as the dynamic relationship between shadow and abundance in nature. Through this deliberate and thoughtful approach, her brushwork communicates emotion and encourages viewers to pause and notice the nuanced beauty of life.

In 2024, Indrė Beinartė presented two solo exhibitions and continues to nurture her passion by leading workshops focused on Japanese culture and ink painting techniques. Moreover, in 2022, she wrote and illustrated a bilingual children’s book, further demonstrating her versatility and ongoing dedication to inspiring creativity among a diverse audience.

About this artwork+

In this painting, "Lotus III," by Indrė Beinartė, there's a subtle, yet striking image. The piece features a lifelike representation of a bird, seemingly a crane or heron, made with simple lines and patterns. The background is crafted from a natural, textured paper that adds an organic feel to the scene. The bird's head is detailed elegantly with darker shades and textures, giving it a realistic and intimate appearance. Surrounding the main figure, you can see fragile lines that suggest twigs or thin branches, enhancing the natural habitat of the creature. Beinartė’s style in this piece is minimalist and delicate. She uses earth tones and sparse details to focus attention on the bird. The use of natural materials and the rough edges of the paper convey a raw, earthy vibe that complements the theme of nature in her art. Overall, the artwork has a calm and serene quality, inviting viewers to pause and reflect on the simplicity and beauty of nature.
