Ilona Žvinakienė, a Lithuanian artist born in 1961 in Plungė, graduated from the Faculty of Art at Šiauliai University and later studied art therapy at the Vilnius Academy of Arts. Her dedication to art and education is evident not just through her long-standing membership in the Lithuanian Artists' Association since 1999, but also through her work teaching art at Panevėžys Vytautas Žemkalnis Gymnasium. Throughout her career, Ilona has organized over 30 solo exhibitions both in Lithuania and abroad, including in Germany, Norway, and Finland. Her involvement in group exhibitions and plein air painting sessions has also been widely recognized, and her artworks reside in private collections around the world, spanning countries such as Canada, Israel, Australia, the United States, and numerous European nations.

Her upbringing amid the scenic beauty of Žemaitija played a pivotal role in developing her artistic vision. She reminisces about her childhood home, filled with flowers and built by her father, and cites places like the Gondinga mound and Mykolas Oginskis’ park as lasting inspirations. It was her father’s approving words about one of her drawings that encouraged her to pursue a life in art. Facing the hardships of moving and early motherhood, Ilona turned to painting as both a sanctuary and a source of purpose, allowing her to depict the delicate and beautiful moments of daily existence.

For twenty years, Ilona primarily utilized pastels, a medium that became central to her artistic persona and found its way into international exhibitions and private collections worldwide. As her career progressed, she began to incorporate oil and acrylic paints, drawn by their convenience for exhibiting and transporting her works.
