Giedrė Bartusevičiūtė, born on February 2, 1970, is a Lithuanian artist whose academic path in art concluded with her earning a Master of Arts degree. In 1996, she completed her studies at the Kaunas Faculty of Vilnius Academy of Arts, marking a pivotal moment in her artistic development.

Bartusevičiūtė spent many years building her career as an interior designer. Throughout this time, she was not only involved in shaping interior environments but also in thoughtfully selecting and curating artwork for her clients. This role granted her a profound insight into the relationship between art and living spaces, as well as an understanding of how art influences a home's atmosphere.

After dedicating years to interior design, she redirected her creative energy toward painting within her private studio. This shift signifies a significant chapter in her artistic evolution, allowing her to fully commit to the cultivation of her own artistic voice. The studio's environment provides her with the liberty to experiment with new techniques and visual concepts.

Giedrė Bartusevičiūtė predominantly paints with oils, though she sometimes incorporates acrylics into her work. Her subjects frequently explore elements of nature, including fog, constellations, and atmospheric themes. Intentionally steering clear of aggression, tension, or stark contrasts, she seeks depth and distant horizons within her compositions. Her intent is to foster a sense of harmony and tranquility, reflecting her belief that art should contribute to the peacefulness of the environments in which it is placed.

About this artwork+

This painting by Giedrė Bartusevičiūtė, titled "Aurora," is quite captivating. At the bottom, dark, rolling hills stretch across the canvas. Above them, a fiery glow breaks through near the horizon, suggesting either the early morning or the fading light of dusk. The sky, vast and expansive, transitions from a warm infusion of yellows and oranges to a deep, star-speckled night sky. It feels like looking at the northern lights, with specks of stars dotting the heavens. Giedrė’s style here is atmospheric and somewhat dreamy. The blending of colors is smooth, creating a serene and thoughtful mood. The texture appears soft, emphasizing the ethereal quality of the aurora. This artwork evokes a sense of peace and wonder at the beauty of the natural world.
